Bed & Breakfast at Rose Cottage.
Rose Cottage is part of a row of traditional granite cottages overlooking the harbour on St. Mary’s. One of these has been our family's home for five generations. In the mid 1990s we were able to acquire one of the adjoining cottages, turning the two cottages into one and taking the opportunity to provide three rooms purposely finished as ensuite bed and breakfast accommodation.
We are ideally situated on the Strand in Hugh Town, with the nearest beach only 20 yards away and two other beaches within a few minutes walk. We are close to the shops, restaurants, pubs etc. and only five minutes walk from the quay, from where boats depart for the off islands. All our letting rooms have views over the harbour and to the islands of Tresco, Bryher and Samson beyond.
When converting the cottages we tried to keep the traditional cottage feel, but have provided up to date facilities to ensure that our guest rooms are extremely comfortable. In equipping the bedrooms we have tried to provide what we would look for ourselves in holiday accommodation; that is, a base for your holiday where you can come and go as you please, comfortably fitted out with a colour television and hot drinks facilities in the room. A hairdryer is also provided.
Karen used to be a hotel chef and prides herself on both the choice and standard of her breakfasts.
Jeremy is a member of the St. Mary's Boatmen's Association and will call in at breakfast time each morning with up to date information on the day's trips.
Rose Cottage is rated by the English Tourist Board as 4 star guest accommodation with a Silver award. Please note that we are a non-smoking establishment.
One of our rooms has a spacious ensuite bathroom (with shower over the bath) and can be used as either a double or twin room. The others are doubles, complete with ensuite shower and toilet.
